What's the story?

In what seems like a progressive step, Western Railway on Thursday launched a breastfeeding room at Bandra Station. This will be the first breastfeeding room on the suburban network of the railway.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the room is located on platform number one near the newly-built washroom.

Facility already available at LTT, CSTM, Mumbai Central

This facility was available for long-distance trains which include Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) and Mumbai Central. It is currently unavailable at local stations under the Central Railway.

There is a room reserved for breastfeeding at Dadar station as well. This room is located at platform number six.

The Central and Western Railway is planning to have more rooms dedicated to breastfeeding and help women in the city.

This seems like a really progressive step taken by the railway officials and let’s hope development takes a rapid pace.
