Batting first in the opening group league encounter, India posted a competitive 297 for 4, with half-centuries from their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (59 off 74 balls) and skipper Priyam Garg (56 off 72 balls). Following which, vice-captain Dhruv Jurel also notched a 48-ball 52 with late entrant all-rounder Siddhesh Veer carving a perfect finish for the team with 44 off 27 balls. Captain Garg, added a run-a-ball 59 along with Jaiswal. Garg, who had three boundaries, was joined by Jurel for a 63-run stand for the fourth wicket that took the score to 232.
