Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined for the last five months due to a back injury, and reports suggest that the injury is more severe than initially anticipated.
This news has raised doubts over his participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and the World Test Championship final. With this, the Mumbai Indians (MI) team is likely to face a significant setback without him in the upcoming IPL.
Bumrah was rushed back into the Indian team in September last year, which aggravated his back problem.
The pacer is still experiencing discomfort and considering taking an extended break from cricket to recover fully. The Indian team, however, is hopeful that Bumrah will be ready to play in the Asia Cup or return before the ODI World Cup later this year.
Social media users have responded to Bumrah's delayed return in different ways, with some funnily suggesting Bollywood star Bobby Deol as a substitute.

Bumrah last played for India in a T20I game against Australia in September in 2022. He was subsequently selected for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka but was dropped after the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) determined he had not fully recovered.
The Indian team's priority is Bumrah's preparation for the World Cup or the Asia Cup, wherever it may be played. The BCCI and the committee must approach Bumrah's recovery cautiously to prevent additional drawbacks.
