In a tragic incident in Mumbai, a 10-year-old boy named Rudra Borhate lost his life after falling into an elevator shaft in his residential building. The incident has now led to a First Information Report (FIR) being filed against five individuals.

The incident happened in Building No. 1 of Lallubhai Compound in Mankhurd on June 7 at around 10:30 am. According to the police, the elevator had been experiencing malfunctions. Furthermore, it was being used without proper maintenance. The fatal incident took place when Rudra entered the lift in his building. The elevator bypassed his intended fifth floor and stopped on the seventh floor. It left a gap of approximately 13 to 14 inches between the floor and the lift.

In an attempt to exit the elevator, Rudra fell into the gap and plunged down the shaft. The noise caused by the incident alerted residents, who rushed to the scene. They found Rudra at the bottom of the shaft. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. But he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Rudra's grieving mother, Priyanka Borhate, wasted no time in reporting the incident to the police. She pointed fingers at the building's office bearers, contractor, and technician for their alleged negligence. According to her, the malfunctioning lift had been a cause for concern for several weeks. Complaints were also regularly made in the society's WhatsApp group. Later, it was discovered that the emergency button within the elevator was non-functional.

Responding to the complaint, the police have registered an FIR against the committee members, lift contractor, and technician under relevant sections of the law. The legal action aims to hold those responsible accountable for Rudra's life. As the investigation unfolds, the police are conducting further inquiries to arrest the suspects without delay.
