As many as 119 persons were arrested recently in 115 cases and confiscated 2471 e-tickets worth over INR 31 lakhs, along with travel-cum-reservation tickets, as part of a special campaign conducted by Western Railway against touts.

Similarly, in another case, five persons were arrested in five cases of e-tickets which were booked with the help of Red Bull, Tatkal Adda and Pro Extension software. A total of INR 2.81 lakh was recovered from them, and over 33 e-tickets were seized.  

The press release issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, states a special team was formed under the Detective Wing of the Railway Protection Force Crime Branch, Cyber Cell and Divisions for this campaign which will act against the brokers. Western Railway has appealed to all its passengers to refrain from purchasing tickets in such fraudulent manner, and at the same time, awareness is being created in this regard through campaigns and public address systems run by Western Railway through various mediums.
