Gangster and 1993 Mumbai blast convict, Abu Salem, is seeking a parole so that he could get married. He submitted two citations of convicts who were bailed for the same reason. The application said, “I humbly request to kindly consider (her application) and grant us permission to register and perform a marriage under Special Marriage Act before the registrar.”

According to a news report which was published in a local tabloid in 2015, he had married a woman over a phone call while he was being taken to Lucknow for a court hearing. The TADA court had directed Thane Police to carry out an enquiry for the same.

After the news went viral of Salem marrying a woman over a phone call, the woman also filed an application. The application stated, “I am known as Abu Salem’s wife in our area and among my relatives. Wherever I go, I am pointed out as Abu Salem’s wife; it has become difficult for me to go anywhere. Even our relatives are pointing fingers at me and my family; I feel like committing suicide as no other alternative is left for me due to such cheap publicity. As I have been defamed without any rhyme or reason, I would like to now take a bold step and get married to the said person Abu Salem.”

The woman Salem wants to marry is 20 years younger to him and looks after Salem’s business in Mumbai. If reports are to be believed, this will be his third marriage as prior to this he was married to Monica Bedi and before her, he had married some one else.

Abu Salem and five others were convicted by TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities) court on June 16 for playing a key role in 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts which claimed lives of 257 people.
