The Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested two women for allegedly stealing gold ornaments and other valuables from passengers on express trains.

According to latest reports, the Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested two women for allegedly stealing gold ornaments and other valuables from passengers on express trains.

The GRP said they had recovered valuables worth INR 4.27 lakhs in seven cases from the duo.

This came to light after the two women stole ornaments from a female’s purse at the station on December 11 at 7.15 pm, while the passenger was boarding Tapovan Express from platform No 4 at Kalyan railway station.

After the complainant, Sangita Domade, 42, a resident of Ulhasnagar, reported the case. Officials stated that the two women opened the zip of her purse and stole the ornaments.

Officials said that the arrested accused are identified as Rekha Kamble, 43, and Roja Kamble, 22, are residents of Saatrasta and are natives of Karnataka.

While going through the CCTV surveillance cameras, the police spotted the two women moving suspiciously and finally traced them to Chinchpokli on December 15.

Moreover, the police recovered all the stolen valuables from them. The police also recovered some of the valuables which they have stolen in six other thefts.

Meanwhile, last month, a robbery incident was reported in Mumbai when a guard Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special protection group (SPG) in Mumbai.
