A 20-year-old was detained by the Mumbai police for allegedly performing dangerous stunts at various locations in the city and sharing them on social media platforms.

A video of the man performing stunts, included climbing an electric pole, riding on top of a taxi, and performing bicycle stunts. It was brought to the attention of the Azad Maidan police by a city resident.

The man has been identified as Mehul Charania. He was subsequently apprehended at his residence in Chembur.

Mumbai Police on early Tuesday, August 13, shared a clip of Charania’s stunts on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a message: “Trying to ‘pull a stunt’? The ‘trick’ won’t work! Azad Maidan Pstn officials arrested an individual from Chembur who, along with his friends, performed dangerous stunts across various locations in Mumbai and uploaded the video on social media. You don’t have a stunt double refrain from performing these risky acts.”

According to police officials, Charania filmed his stunts at 3 am on June 4, with his friends, and later posted the video on social media. A citizen who noticed the dangerous acts reported them to the police, who traced Charania through his IP address.

During questioning, Charania told police that he was preparing to participate in an international talent competition India's Got Talent and was practicing for it. He also mentioned plans to travel to the US on a sponsorship to perform stunts.

“We took action under the Bombay Police Act and have allowed him to go,” an officer stated.
