Nearly 23 account holders with the Bank of India (BOI) are claimed to have lost INR 3 lakh from their bank accounts post making use of its ATM at Hanuman Chowk in Mulund East, stated reports. It has been stated that a technical investigation has been initiated by the bank officials.

This is believed to have been undertaken to understand if skimmers were utilized to attain card details. All the complainants claimed to have attained a notification about withdrawal from their account on the morning of Wednesday, December 8.

According to a report by the Mid-Day, amounts between INR 15,000 to INR 20,000 were withdrawn from the victim’s accounts. This happened from many ATMs at Sakinaka, Andheri and Jogeshwari. It has been reported that the bank was already commenced the procedure of crediting the money lost to the account holders.

BOI, Mulund branch manager, Sumlata Sherigar, in the narrative confirmed the occurrence. Sherigar elaborated that not only have they briefed the technical team, but have also commenced an investigation to ascertain how the money was lost.

Sherigar added that they have also begun the procedure of crediting the money lost to the accounts of the customers. The police, on the other hand, remarked that the bank officials will approach them after their technical team will finishes its investigation.
