3 foreign nationals arrested by Mumbai Police, cocaine worth over ₹22 lakhs seized

Mumbai police has arrested three foreign nationals for allegedly possessing 220.14 grams cocaine in Malad. The Bangur Nagar police have seized cocaine worth ₹22,01,400, said officials.

According to an official release, the Deputy Police Commissioner of Mumbai zone 11 had formed a special team to crack down on drug trafficking and illegal activities in the areas.

On Wednesday night, December 2, the team received information from an undercover informant that, a foreigner named Uche James (35) would be coming near Toyota Showroom, Malad (West) Mumbai with the intention of selling cocaine at around 01.00 pm.

Based on this information, the team set a trap and seized cocaine weighing a total of 10.14 grams from the possession of the foreign national.

A case has been registered against him at Bangur Nagar Police Station and Court has sent the accused to police custody till December 7. The arrested accused was brought to the police station on Thursday, December 4, for further investigation. According to the information provided by him, two foreign nationals from Royal Palm Goregaon East Mumbai were named -- Emeka Cyprian, Chukwu Joseph.

The police said they were trying to ascertain the source from where the three drug peddlers procured cocaine in such a large quantity.

So far a total of 220.14 grams of cocaine (approximately ₹22,01,400) has been seized from the three foreign nationals, the said offence has also been augmented under section 21 (c), 29 NDPS Act 1985.
