A 4-year-old girl, Gayatri Prasad, is currently in the ICU after falling from her sixth-floor apartment in Andheri. The young girl suffered several fractures in her skull, shoulder, and chest, and has been on a ventilator for the past two days. The incident occurred on Tuesday when three broken French window panes enclosing the balcony were being removed for repairs. According to reports, the open balcony on the sixth floor merely had scotch tape applied diagonally to the open window frame.

The family claims that the contractor hired by the housing association to fix the French window glass was negligent in his job. The father of the young girl demands that stern action be taken against everyone who was to blame for the current state of his daughter. The police have filed a case of negligence against the builder, contractor, supervisor, labourers, and administration of the housing society, and seven persons have been detained. However, no arrests have been made yet.

The three wings of the building, each with 15 stories, have 15-story windows, and after the window panes were taken out, no safety precautions were taken. According to the police, action will be taken against those who disregarded safety precautions while performing the work. It is also reported that the window panes had been in poor condition for the previous three years, and the community had constantly complained about the issue via email. The builder had transferred the rights to the society a year prior, according to the police, and the society management had been established.
