A witness who identified Bharatiya Janata Party MP Pragya Singh Thakur, the prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, was deposed on Wednesday. Therefore, the number of hostile witnesses in the case has increased to 37.

Earlier, the state's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is investigating the case, had recorded the statement of this witness. Accordingly, this witness had attended Thakur's program and knew her. Moreover, he had overheard the conversation between Thakur and absconding accused Ramji Kalsangra after the blast. The two were talking about Thakur's bike being used for the blast and the fact that it did not trigger a more powerful blast.

He also claimed that he did not voluntarily respond to the ATS. After his testimony, the investigating agency requested the court to declare him hostile. Accepting this request, the court declared him hostile.
