Goregaon West – In a chilling incident, a 40-year-old man allegedly raped a 4-year-old girl in Bhagat Singh Nagar here. According to information available, the accused, identified as Anand Mahto, took the victim to his house on the pretext of offering her a chocolate and raped her. Fearing that the girl might raise an alarm, the accused stashed rags into her mouth. After committing the crime, Mahto fled the spot leaving the child in an unconscious state. When the victim girl reached her home, she narrated the tale to her parents who immediately admitted her to Cooper Hospital. The condition of the victim is reported to be stable. Meanwhile, residents caught hold of the accused and beat him up before handing him over to the police. Bangur Nagar police have registered a case under section 376 and have arrested him.
