The Government Railway Police (GRP) received a call from a commuter about an abandoned baby in a handicap compartment of a local train in Churchgate on Monday. The 5-year-old baby girl was found abandoned in a train which terminated at platform one. She was wrapped in a white cloth and left stranded on the seat when a commuter spotted her.
The GRP officers admitted the new-born infant to the Bombay hospital as she was weak. They have registered a case and are trying to track her parents down.
The officers are scanning CCTV footages of all stations to find out who boarded the train carrying the child.
