A shameful case of sexual abuse of an animal has to come to light, where a 65-year-old man allegedly raped a female dog multiple times within the limits of Chatushrungi police in Pune district of Maharashtra.

He was arrested on Sunday, April 4, after the heinous act was caught on a CCTV camera. The incident took place near Senapati Bapat Road in Model Colony. RESQ Charitable Trust team and its volunteers handed over the man to the Pune city police.

Pallavi Gowda (27), a resident near SB Road Pune, had been noticing a nearby building watchman who would pick up a dog and take it under his building every few days.

Local volunteers and a not-for-profit organization named RESQ charitable trust, after learning about the canine’s sexual abuse, decided to install CCTV cameras in the area to gather video evidence against the accused.

Based on her complaint, Chatushrungi police station has registered an FIR against Baburao More for offences under section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 11 (treating animal cruelly) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

As per reports, the elder man used to sexually assault the speechless canine in the parking area of a residential society in Pune’s Model Colony. He had been repeatedly committing the crime since October 2020.

The female dog is currently under rehabilitation at the RESQ Charitable Trust Centre in Bavdhan.

In a similar incident reported earlier, a 68-year-old vendor identified as Ahmed Shahi had abused several local dogs in Andheri, Mumbai. The case had been under investigation at the DN Nagar Police Station where officers found nearly 30 dogs who were victims of sexual abuse.
