Thane Crime Branch summons Arbaaz Khan in IPL betting case

The Thane police summoned bollywood actor, director and producer Arbaaz Khan in betting probe into the Indian Premier League (IPL).

While the Thane crime branch anti-extortion cell was investigating high profile bookie Sonu Jalan, Arbaz Khan’s name cropped up. Likewise, he was called to record his statement.

As per the TV reports, Arbaaz Khan was summoned as he was alleged of placing money on matches during the IPL’s 11th season with the help of bookies.


How did Arbaaz Khan’s name cropped up?

The anti-extortion cell headed by senior police inspector Pradeep Sharma of the Thane Crime Branch raided a building in Dombivali on May 16, 2018, where they made an arrest of five people i.e. Gautam Sawla (55), Nikhil (25) and Nitish Punjani (55) and in next few days the cell arrested Khushal Rama Bhiya (40) and Bittu Joshi (27) for running IPL betting racket.

Following to this incident, the Thane Crime Branch successfully nabbed Jalan (41) who happened to come Kalyan court to meet his partners who were produced on Tuesday. Jalan who is known as Sonu Malad is considered to be the key person in the betting business.
