Zaveri Bazar - The Kalbadevi police have seized a hoard of Rs 50,00,000 in cash from Zaveri Bazar.
This is the first raid on angadiyas, the indigenous couriers, after demonetisation was announcement. Unit 2- of the city's Crime Branch, acting on a tip off about a huge amount of cash in old and new currency at Zaveri Bazar, got the local police to keep a vigil in that area. The teams caught accused Vasant Revari carrying a big bag with cash, in which Rs 47,02000 were in new currency and the rest in old, junked notes. Revari has bee arrested and further investigations are on by the income tax department, say the Kalbadevi police.
