On Monday, the former Maharashtra home minister, Anil Deshmukh, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after dodging them for more than four months in relation to the money laundering investigation against him, highlighted reports.

He also took to Twitter on Monday stating that in spite of the High Court providing him with the liberty to go to the Special Court by using his constitutional rights, today he is going to the ED’s office and offering his complete cooperation in the investigation.

He also posted a video on Twitter highlighting that the CBI, ED investigation, supposed harassment against him and his family members have aggrieved him.

On Friday, the Bombay High Court rejected Deshmukh’s petition against the ED’s summons in addition to excluding the agency from nabbing him even when it stated that he was free to apply for anticipatory bail.

Param Bir Singh the former Mumbai Police Commissioner has accused Deshmukh of asking officers from the police force to collect INR 100cr on a monthly basis from restaurants, bars, amongst others.

According to reports, since June 25 the ED has summoned Deshmukh five times. Apart from the first summon, the rest were for his personal appearance but didn’t appear until Monday. So far, the ED has nabbed Deshmukh’s personal assistant and secretary in the money laundering case.
