With the Maharashtra government permitting everyday train journeys, Sunday onwards, reports claim that the crowd at the stations has increased slightly. In addition to this, officials are also of the opinion that from Monday, demand for single journey tickets will increase, stated accounts.

Principal Secretary, Aseem Gupta from the State Disaster Management Authority in the directive to the railways permitting daily tickets, elaborated on how from now complete inoculation would be the only compulsory mandate for ticket issuing of any form for local train travel, highlighted accounts.

In the official statement, Gupta stated it would be the duty of the railways to see to it that only those who are fully inoculated be allowed to travel in the locals. This has to be regardless of whether one is in the essential or non-essential category.

Based on accounts, last week there was a considerable number of grievances from the travellers from the essential section that comprises government personnel, those in the medical and associated fields, amongst others. They were upset that they couldn’t purchase tickets as the railways had made it mandatory to opt for monthly passes.

With this latest update, those who have a complete inoculation certificate or a universal travel pass can attain a ticket. It is anticipated that this move will curtail the number of ticketless travel.
