Anil Deshmukh, Maharashtra Home Minister, on Wednesday, July 29, ruled out handing over the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and asserted the Mumbai Police will continue to investigate the case.

Deshmukh earlier in the day had chaired a meeting with Mumbai Police officers involved in the investigation, and also met CM Uddhav Thackeray after the meeting at the latter’s official bungalow Varsha. He, however, refused to comment on the complaint that has been filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father in the police station of Patna and the subsequent investigation in Mumbai.

The Bihar Police has registered an FIR under sections Section 340, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306 of IPC, under charges of embezzlement, ‘abetment to suicide, cheating and conspiracy.’ Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has accused actor Rhea Chakraborty of abetting the late actor’s suicide and further claimed that she interfered and discouraged him in his decisions to buy properties and sign films, stole cash and other valuables while questioning the transfer of ₹15 crores from Sushant’s account into an unrelated account.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Thursday, July 30, refused to entertain a plea filed by petitioner Alka Priya demanding a CBI investigation in the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The apex court further stated that the petitioner has no locus stand in the matter, adding that the petitioner should file a PIL in the Bombay High Court in order to seek appropriate relief with regards to the case.
