Mumbai - Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis made it clear that Sheena Bora case had cost former city police commissioner Rakesh Maria his job. When Sheena Bora murder case was revealed to the world, Maria gave more attention to it. The friendship between Maria and Peter Mukerjea, one of the accused in the murder case, was also highlighted at the time. When Fadnavis took a briefing from Maria on this, the former top cop had stressed that Peter was not involved in the case. As Maria had personally started investigating the case, it was not expected from him to do so. Maria was transferred on promotion and was shifted as Inspector General (Home Guards). Looking at the seriousness involved in the case, it was handed over to the CBI. The CBI has made Peter Mukerjea an accused and his involvement in the case was brought to fore. Recently, the central investigation agency has examined Maria and two other senior police officers in this case.
