Citizens who are registering their name for the second phase of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine have been asked to be careful, as reports state that several citizens have started registering for the same on fake apps.

Furthermore, the place has also been infiltrated by cyber criminals who also started taking advantage of vaccinations. It is said that many have created websites like Co-Win and running fake rackets to register people for the vaccination drive.

Keeping the same in mind, officials have started sharing message of fake websites and the same have gone viral on social media. Authorities have stated that people registering for the same should read the guidelines before on the Co-Win app and continue only after reading. This way, one will be careful as careless registration could empty one's bank account.

Cyber criminals can steal from the bank accounts by obtaining one's confidential information and the government has alerted the citizens about this. Many citizens have also uploaded their information on fake websites created under the name of the actual website and it is free to register on these websites. Moreover, it is reported that citizens are now worried about being cheated and are trying to delete their own details posted on fake websites. However, not being able to to delete the information has raised concerns.

To strengthen the same, the government’s PIB team has issued guidelines to prevent such scams. A link has been shared on the fake website, clicking on which, one is taken to another fake page that is identical to the government page. Furthermore, a form also opens on the page in which one is asked to fill in your details along with the OTP number, post which the the names of the hospitals i.e. vaccination centers are also shown. However, by now, it is too late for the citizens to realize that they have been deceived by this.

Experts state that the website http://selfregistration.preprod.co-vin.in is similar to the government's co-win website, and one should only visit the official website to get any necessary information about coronavirus vaccination without falling prey to such websites.
