Mumbai- Cases of Bogus pathologists and bogus doctors are being reported not only in Mumbai but across Maharashtra. The state government is overlooking the problem which can cost lives said Maharashtra Association of Practicing Pathologist and Microbiologist (MAPPM) during a press conference which took place at Press Club. This press conference was headed by Dr Sandeep Yadav.
On 24th May 2016, a circular was issued stating people with Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) have no authority to run a lab. However, in next two days, this circular was called back and a committee was formed to give a report on this. However, the association is complaining that state government has not implemented the the 24th May circular even after receiving the report from the committee. “It is been six months, yet the implementation of the report is not being carried out. If the implementation is not carried out in a month’s time then we will protest,” said Dr Sandeep Yadav, President, MAPPM.
Along with this, MAPPM wants Dr Pravin Shingare, Chief of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) to resign for supporting DMLT holders running pathology labs.
