Actress Shilpa Shetty has moved the High Court seeking a stay on the arrest notice issued by the investigating agency in a INR 60 crore fraud case and permission to travel abroad. She also claimed that she was not involved in the case. However, the court asked Shilpa why she was not considering becoming a witness against the main accused and husband Raj Kundra in the case.
Shilpa Shetty informed the High Court that Shilpa and her son will be going abroad for business between the 22nd and 27th. She also told the court that her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, will be staying in Mumbai with their daughter and mother. Shilpa also said that she will be going abroad for business purposes and details of the same were also presented in the court.
Thereafter, a bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad made the above remark. Also, the state government was ordered to clarify its position regarding Shilpa's foreign tour. The petitioners are accused of loan and fraud of INR 60 crore. In that context, he cannot be allowed to travel abroad with his family, the court had said during the previous hearing.
Accordingly, a hearing was held before a bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad on Tuesday. According to the agreement, if Shilpa Shetty is allowed to go for commercial work, she will have to return the deposit.
On the other hand, the complaint is specifically against Kundra, and there are no direct allegations against Shetty. Therefore, it was stated on her behalf that only Shetty and her son would be travelling abroad. However, this claim was opposed by the complainant, who alleged that the family trip was being portrayed as a business visit for convenience, especially after a court hearing. Taking note of this, the court directed government prosecutors to submit a report with appropriate recommendations.
