Two were crushed by a luxury car on Versova beach on Monday. One of them died and another person was injured. A case of manslaughter has been registered against the driver in this case. Two people have been arrested in this case and their blood samples have been sent for examination by the police to check whether they had consumed alcohol.


Ganesh Yadav (36), a resident of Sagar Kutir area, was sleeping on the Andheri-Versova beach. Yadav is a rickshaw driver by profession. Bablu Srivastava was also sleeping on the beach with him. Ganesh has died in this accident. Srivastava filed a police complaint. Srivastava and Yadav were sleeping on the beach. At that time, Srivastava woke up due to a blow to the head. Then they saw a motor running over Yadav who was sleeping nearby. Both got down from that car. Seeing that Yadav was injured, the two got out of the car and fled from there. Ganesh's brother Bajrangi Yadav then rushed Ganesh Yadav and Srivastava in a rickshaw to Cooper Hospital. But the doctor declared Ganesh Yadav dead.

Based on Srivastava's complaint, the police registered a case against the duo and started searching for them. After hours of searching, the police arrested Nikhil Dilip Jawate (34), a resident of Nagpur city, and Shubham Ashok Dumbre (33), a resident of Airoli in Navi Mumbai. Senior Inspector of Versova Police Station Ganesh Pawar said that more investigation is going on in this matter.


The accused were driving on the beach and knew that people were sleeping there. However, they fled the scene. Officials said that we have taken his blood samples and sent them for examination whether he had consumed alcohol at the time of the accident.


Crimes under Indian Code of Criminal Procedure Sections 105 (offense of murder), 125A (negligence causing grievous hurt), 239 (offense of failure to inform by person bound to report crime), 281 (negligent driving in public), 3(5) (ordinary intent) against the accused ), and Sections 134A (failing to take any steps to obtain medical treatment for an injured person) and 134B (failing to inform the police to assist the injured) of the Motor Vehicle Act have been registered. When both the accused were produced in the court, they were remanded to police custody for five days, the officer said.
