Shankar Devraj Naidu aka Jumbo (35), the accused who used to steal from the goods carriage of the train, was caught red-handed by the Railway Police. Jumbo usually used to target those express trains that used to halt midways in case they did not get a single.

According to the information received, Jumbo previously used to work on the CST terminus in the capacity of a coolie. But later he switched to stealing. It was on April 29 at 6 in the evening that Jumbo was spotted throwing out bags out of the coach of the Dnyaneshwar Express at the Ghatkopar and Vikhroli station. Moreover, two of the Railway personnel, Sachin Londhe and Sumit Kumar, stationed on duty spotted Jumbo stealing the bags and throwing them after which, he was arrested.

Ghatkopar RPF Sub-Inspector Chhedilal Kanoyjia said that there were many complaints of theft from the goods box and they have been looking for this accused for several days. Often this thief used to steal from the trains that used to halt at the signal.
