Coronavirus Outbreak: Four Maharashtra Police personnel die, 364 new cases

As per the data issued by the state public health department, a total of 20,367 police personnel have been affected by the coronavirus till now and 208 have died.

The coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have been increasing at an alarming rate. However, the state government claims that people are also recovering from COVID-19. The coronavirus cases among police personnel in Maharashtra are increasing as they have been deployed on the ground and are in direct contact with citizens. 

In the last 24 hours, four Maharashtra Police personnel have died due to the coronavirus. As per the data issued by the state public health department, a total of 20,367 police personnel have been affected by the coronavirus till now and 208 have died. 

In rural parts of Maharashtra, the fatalities of police personnel due to the coronavirus have become a major issue of concern. Beed, Kolhapur, Chandrapur and Buldhana districts have reported more deaths of police personnel due to the coronavirus in August. Moreover, various units of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) also witness spike in coronavirus cases. 

As of September 17, nearly 364 fresh coronavirus cases were reported among police personnel in Maharashtra. Moreover, four coronavirus-related deaths have been reported, taking the death toll in Maharashtra Police to 208. Of the 20,367 coronavirus cases, 16,363 people have recovered so far.  

Since the inception of the coronavirus outbreak, the Maharashtra police has been working tirelessly. On many occasion, the social distancing norms have not been followed. Be it the Kangana Ranaut’s arrival in Mumbai or Rhea Chakraborty’s interrogation, the police have taken steps to stop the mob while endangering their own life.  

Earlier, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also raised concerns over the same saying that maximum cases were being reported from Maharashtra. 

As of September 16, the coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have risen to 11,21,221 and the death toll has touched 30,883. The active cases in the state remain 2,97,125 while almost 7,92,832 people have recovered from COVID-19. On Wednesday, Maharashtra reported 23,365 coronavirus cases and 474 fatalities in 24 hours.
