Coronavirus Pandemic: Man allegedly kills younger sibling for stepping out of home during lockdown

In a shocking event, a 28-year-old man on Thursday allegedly killed his younger brother for stepping out of the home during the lockdown imposed due to nCOVID-19 outbreak. The police have arrested the accused from the western suburb of Kandivali.

An official from Samta Naga police station said that the accused, Rajesh Laxmi Thakur killed his younger brother Durgesh after the latter stepped out of the house despite repeated warnings about the lockdown on Wednesday night.

The official stated that the deceased worked in a private firm in Pune and had returned home after the coronavirus scare.

On Thursday as the deceased got back home after his outing, the accused and his wife shouted at him and a heated argument ensued between them. The argument escalated to a point where the accused attacked him with a sharp object.

Following which, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but he was declared dead on arrival. The official informed that a case of murder has been registered against the accused.

The coronavirus outbreak has affected 128 people in Maharashtra who have been tested positive for the virus. Among which, 54 patients are from Mumbai. Looking at the gravity of the situation Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had imposed a statewide curfew. A day after that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a three-week lockdown across the country. Barring essential services, every other service including public transport has been suspended.
