With increasing cases of coronavirus in Mumbai, officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are taking several measures to ensure arrangements are for the patients. Decisions are being taken along with the state government, and the entire administration is fighting the pandemic.

Over the last few months, officials have set up several quarantine centres and hospitals in the city, thereby providing proper facilities for patients infected with the virus.

As per recent development, the BMC has been planning to facilitate a quarantine centre near Cama Lane in Ghatkopar, however, citizens of some societies in this area opposed this decision.

About 40 to 45 people took to the streets protested against the police request and violated social distancing norms. Police officials had to intervene in this matter and a case has been filed against them, as they continued even after several warnings given by the officials, further failing to understand and oblige.

Reports state that a children's hostel in Ghatkopar will be converted for corona infected patients, but some local residents started spreading rumours stating that the patients admitted there for treatment, would make others sick. Upon knowing this, officials had to inform the police as the matter was getting out of control

Taking serious note of the incident, Ghatkopar ward officials finally lodged a complaint and using CCTV footage, police officials are identifying the people who gathered at the spot.
