A video showing a young couple engaging in a sexual act on a moving air-conditioned bus run by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has gone viral on incident. The incident happened on a bus travelling from Panvel to Kalyan on the night of Sunday, April 20.
The couple are believed to be in their twenties. They were filmed in the back seat of the bus. A car driver who noticed the act through the bus window captured a 22-second-long video.
The bus was nearly empty at the time of the incident. The footage was widely shared online and quickly gained attention.
Following the incident, the NMMC began an internal inquiry. The conductor of the bus is under investigation. As per sources, the conductor has received a notice to explain why he did not act.
As per reports, a senior official from Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport has confirmed that the conductor is being questioned and further disciplinary steps will depend on the outcome of the inquiry.
The video was taken as the bus slowed down in traffic. The municipal body has not yet filed a police complaint. No official statement has been released by NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde.
According to Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, public indecency can lead to a fine of up to INR 1,000 or a jail term of up to three months.
