On Sunday, January 16, morning, a 35-year-old man was killed after the crane he was operated fell and collapsed while installing a concrete grider of the Mumbai Metro Line 6 at Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, reports stated. The man has been identified as Lovedeep Ravindra Singh.

According to accounts, Singh was a crane operator who worked on the metro construction site near Kanjurmarg at JVLR. The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is building the Metro Line-6 which is an elevated corridor between Jogeshwari and Vikhroli passing through JVLR where the mishap transpired.

Based on narratives, the police elaborated on how the incident occurred at nearly 6 am near the JVLR signal on the service road. Herein the team was putting up a grider amongst two pillars of an elevated metro line by means of two cranes.

One crane was on the road, while the other which collapsed was on the opposite side, next to the road. When the cranes put up the grider, the crane next to the road fell on one side as the sand sank and it then fell with the grider.

While the vehicle began falling, Singh allegedly jumped from his cabin to escape but came under the crane's bottom and lost his life to the injuries. It has been reported that the Kanjurmarg police is probing the matter and have registered an accidental death report.
