A cross situated near the historic St. John the Baptist Church in Mumbai’s SEEPZ MIDC area was allegedly vandalised, sparking outrage among local residents and members of the Christian community. The incident came to light after people noticed damage to the religious symbol and informed the authorities.
Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the matter. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and speaking to locals in an effort to identify those involved. Security in the area has also been increased as a precaution.
