IAS officer Radheshyam Mopalwar, who was suspended from the post of vice chairman and managing director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for alleged corruption and kidnapping charges, has been allegedly blackmailed by a detective, threatening him with information about his corruption charges and demanding money.
Satish Mangale was arrested by Thane anti-extortion cell for extorting Mopalwar in Dombivali for INR 1 Cr.
For a while now, Radhesyam Mopalwar has been in the limelight for facing charges of corruption as some information was leaked from his cell phone.
According to the information provided by Thane police, Mangale handed over a voice recording and claimed it to be Mopalwar’s. Mangale and his wife, Shraddha, had taken to political party leaders and government officials to throw light on the IAS officer’s antics.
After this, the detective along with his wife and a friend, Anil Vedmehta, told Radheshyam Mopalwar that they would recede their complaints and also submit the voice recording to him if he paid them INR 10 Crore.
Satish Mangale and his wife met Mopalwar at J.W. Mariott on October 31 and they reduced the extortion amount to INR 7 crore and also threatened him and his daughter did he fail to pay the decided amount, alleged Mopalwar in his complaint.
Mopwalwar then complained to Thane police and after an investigation, police then arrested him while accepting an INR 1 Cr bribe at Dombivali from Mopalwar.
Satish Mangale is a private detective who stays in touch with senior officials and also records the conversations he has with these officials. He also has one charge of rape at Mira Road and one charge of IT act at Bandra.
