Mumbai - During weekends, Mumbaikars face a lot of problems on the Mumbai- Pune express highway. This happens due to a massive traffic jam as heavy vehicles use this highway. To solve this issue, Mumbai police has come up with the initiative wherein they will ban heavy vehicles from using Panvel to Urse toll plaza road. On Fridays & Saturdays, heavy vehicles will be barred for six hours & for seven hours on Sundays & Mondays respectively. Also, now onwards, police in plain clothes will patrol on the highway keeping a tab on reckless drivers. Whenever they will see any driver flouting traffic rules, they will inform their police officers through an SMS. In the last 6 days, police have taken action against 1,292 traffic violators.
