Aarey Colony- A major fire broke out at the Aarey Colony forest area on Thursday morning.
Local residents allege that the fire was not incidental but was planned. The MMRC's Metro 3 project runs through the area and the MMRC had been planning to cut down the trees to go ahead with the project. Clearance to fell the trees has however not been obtained.
The fire brigade rushed four fire engines to the spot. Till the time of going to press, firefighters were still trying to control the fire. The Vanrai police have also reached the spot. Officials say the reason for the fire is not yet clear.
