DRI arrests three accused for smuggling gold in nebulizer machines

The accused used to coat the gold plates with silver in order to mislead. DRI is carrying out their investigation in this matter

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested three people for smuggling gold while hiding it in nebulizer machines. The arrested accused have been identified as Ahmed Mohammed Bedra (56), Mahendra Kate (48), and Ravindra Sonar (38). 

DRI was able to bust the gold smuggling racket after they received information regarding the smuggling of 15 gold plates which was going to take place at air cargo. The DRI officials arrested Ravindra Sonar and Kate after investigating and seized the gold plates.

While investigating, the officials discovered that the nebulizer machines had no motors while it had gold plates which were coated with silver to mislead. Later, after the interrogation, Ahmed Bedra alias Ajay was also arrested by the DRI.

During the investigation, the DRI was told that Bedra got the gold from an individual in Kerala. The arrested trio spilt the beans and named Mujeeb Rehman informing that they have been smuggling the gold plates for almost a year now. DRI is on a lookout for Rehman who belongs from Kasargod in Kerala.
