A 13-year-old girl living in Hedutane village had to go through heartache, defamation and mental torture due to friendship on social media. A complaint of this incident has been duly registered at the Panvel Taluka Police Station.


A girl going to school in Hedutane village had to face mental torture. For the past seven months, the victim and the suspected accused started getting to know each other on social media. Meanwhile, they started talking on social media. After getting to know each other, they became friends. The suspected accused instigated the girl to send her a nude photograph despite knowing that she was a minor. After that, the accused came to the premises of the society where the concerned victim lives and took the photographs by threatening to make the photograph sent by the victim viral.

A few days later, the accused sent the nude photograph sent by the victim to the victim's brother and demanded INR 50,000 from him. The accused did not stop at this, he opened a fake Instagram account of the victim and defamed her by giving the account a vulgar name of the victim. Currently, the accused in this case is absconding. Police Sub-Inspector Ambika Andhare is searching for the accused in this incident. Senior Police Inspector Anil Patil has registered a case under the Act of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences and Information Technology Act.
