In a recent development, the Ghatkopar police have arrested two individuals on charges of extorting money from a local businessman. The victim, Ashok Mahadev Kamble, had received government funding to start a tea van outside Vidyavihar railway station.

On June 3, a man approached the van and handed a phone to Siddharth Kamble, Ashok's brother. A man in a call on that phone abused him for opening the vehicle in his area. The man, identified as Yogesh Mourya, went on to threaten Siddharth. Mourya later approached Ashok and demanded a daily payment of Rs 500 to allow him to continue his business without any trouble.

Ashok Mahadev Kamble decided to take immediate action and reported the extortion to the Ghatkopar police. In his complaint, Kamble also highlighted Mourya's arrogant manner during the entire ordeal. Then, another individual named Nilesh Kamble intensified the threats. Nilesh went as far as threatening to kill both brothers if they refused to vacate the area.

The Ghatkopar police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjali Patil, took swift action and arrested both Mourya and Nilesh. The arrests were made on charges of extortion, making death threats, and criminal intimidation.
