Famous film director and choreographer Remo D'Souza has been threatened for a ransom by notorious gangster Ravi Pujari. Mumbai’s Crime Branch’s extortion-cell has arrested financer Satyendra Tyagi (36), at the behest of whose, Ravi Pujari called D’Souza and his wife demanding ₹50 lakh.

Movie 'Death of Amar' led to arguments

Director Remo D'Souza and Tyagi came together to make a movie 'Death of Amar' in which Rajiv Khandelwal will be seen in the lead role. However, the work of this film was held up due to some financial transactions. Tyagi who had invested ₹5 Cr in the film was upset with D’Souza as he was not ready to give no-objection certificate. This led to the arguments and ultimately, Tyagi asked Ravi Pujari to threaten D’Souza to hand over his money and no-objection certificate.

Remo's wife received threatening calls as well

Pujari initially called D’Souza threatening him to give no-objection certificate to Tyagi and ₹50 lakh to himself. But when D’Souza started avoiding calls, Pujari started contacting D’Souza’s wife — Lizelle D’souza. Finally, D'Souza's wife decided to file a complaint against Ravi Pujari.

Acting on D’Souza’s wife's complaint, anti-extortion cell arrested Tyagi under sections 385, 387 and 34. According to the sources, D’Souza was receiving calls from August to January.
