The Mumbai Crime Branch makes another breakthrough in the drug nexus in the city by arresting an individual with 24 kg ganja valued at INR 5 lakhs.

An officer from the Crime Branch (Unit XI) managed to attain dependable intelligence on Wednesday that a dubious-looking individual named Firoz Sayyad also known as Fuga was carrying a nylon carry bag at Hathi Garden Area, Malavani. It is said that the 24-year-old managed to acquire the contraband from a different state and planned to sell the same to small peddlers in Mumbai. On securing these details, a team was constituted of PI Patil, API Ghone and API Jadhav who went to corroborate the details along with witnesses.

It was in the evening at 6.45 that a trap was laid and the individual was detained. On, going through the bag, he carried, they were able to discover 1.2 kg ganja. Post this, an intense round of interrogations led them to a room located in Malvani, Malad West. Herein the team stumbled upon another 22 kg and 660 grams of contraband. Taking the said evidence into consideration, a case was registered against the accused. However, the probe doesn’t stop there, Senior Inspector Vinayak Chavan has revealed that in order to further uncover the operation, the accused will face additional interrogation.

The authorities have been undertaking actions on a war-footing to uncover the drug nexus in Mumbai.
