22-year-old loses life after slipping from an overcrowded Dombivli local

Charmi Shantilal Prasad boarded a train from Dombivli during the peak hours on Monday. She was on the footboard of the overcrowded Mumbai local, but unfortunately slipped and lost her life between Dombivli and Kopar.

Mumbai Locals have seen an increase in passengers over the years, and the issue of overcrowded trains, especially in the central line, has time-and-again been raised by the commuters. Many lose their lives or get injured which boarding the train, risking their lives.

In a recent unfortunate event, a 22-year-old resident of Dombivli, Charmi Shantilal Prasad, lost her life after she fell from the overcrowded local train during the peak hours of Monday. The incident happened as she slipped from the footboard between Dombivli and Kopar stations. 

One of the railway police spokesperson later informed that the train was packed and she lost her balance and fell. She was immediately taken to Dombivli's Shastri Nagar Hospital in Dombivli but declared dead on arrival. Upon receiving the information from the co-passengers, Dombivli GRP confirmed that an accidental death report was filed

Many such incidents have been reported in the same stretch, yet there is no solution to the issue in the city. Keeping the importance in mind, NCP leader Supriya Sule voiced this issue recently demanding an increase in services to-and-from Dombivli.

Charmi worked in a private company, lived with her mother and brother, and was a resident of Deselepada.
