In the last few days, flashing and molestation cases against women have increased. One such flashing incident took place at CSTM when a woman was sitting in Tapovan Express and the man flashed at her. 

Another such incident recently took place at Vashi where a man was arrested for flashing at a mother-daughter duo. In connection with the same, the Vashi police arrested the accused — Umashankar Vijayshankar Dubey (25).


What’s the story?

On June 9, 2018, the victim who is a Koparkhairne resident, was traveling with her 22-year-old daughter in the Vashi-Thane local train’s first class compartment. Around 7:24 am, the local reached Ghansoli and the accused entered the compartment where the victim was sitting. After boarding, he asked the victim, if it was the ladies compartment. When the victim said yes, the accused took off his pants and started flashing. The scared mother-daughter duo screamed but it was of no use as the train was in motion. When the local train stopped at the next station, Dubey ran away. The victim then filed a complaint at Vashi police station.


Police laid a trap for the accused

With the help of description and CCTV footage, the police found out that that the accused was a Belapur resident. Vashi police accordingly laid a trap on Friday evening and arrested him. Along with this, the Vashi police also arrested Vivek Gaikwad who used to molest women in the subway. The man tried hugging a 40-year-old woman in the subway from behind.
