Matrimonial sites are a traditional version of Tinder but sometimes, they come at an expense. On Tuesday, a couple met through such a site and decided to meet for coffee.
Aryan Patel, convinced the girl to give him her INR 1.25 L ring so that he could get her a gold ring matching her size. After the girl handed him the ring, Patel absconded and the girl then realised she was badly scammed.
The girl is a Prabhadevi resident who met this man on a matrimonial site and then chatted with him on WhatsApp for a few months before finally meeting him over coffee. They met at CCD on Carter Road, Bandra.
After the two met, Patel told the girl he wanted her finger size and needed her ring so that he could gift her a gold ring. After she handed over the ring, he pretended to receive a call and stepped out of the café but never returned.
She then filed a complaint at Khar Police Station and they are trying to trace the man.
