In a shocking development, in the Aarey Colony area of Mumbai, a man has allegedly murdered his would-be mother-in-law over hiding a bottle of alcohol. According to sources, a case has been registered at Aarey Colony police station and police are investigating further.

Moreover, the deceased has been identified as Sakru alias Shahnaz Gambhir Sheikh, a 40-year-old resident of Aarey Colony near Mardan Bakery, Prajapurpada. The accused Suraj used to work as a labourer. As there was no other arrangement for him to stay in Mumbai, he was living with them. The accused was allegedly an alcoholic and tried several times to quit alcohol. Conjecture around the situation had several locals reporting that the accused was avoiding marriage with the victim’s daughter due to which the victim had hidden the bottle of alcohol.

As a result of not being able to find his bottle of liquor, the accused got into a heavy argument with the victim. At that time, the accused, Suraj got angry and started beating Shahnawaz in the yard of the house. While beating, Shahnawaz was prodded by Suraj with a sharp knife as a result of which she was gravely injured. After getting information about the incident, Aarey police rushed to the spot, arrested Suraj and admitted the injured Shahnawaz to the hospital for treatment. However, in unfortunate news, she died during treatment. According to sources, Suraj has been arrested in Mumbai by the police in Aarey Colony area under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
