Mumbai - Riyaz Bhati has refuted the claims which stated that he is a close aide of notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim. He also has said that he is connected with neither BJP nor Dawood. He alleged that NCP’s Nawab Malik is making statements to malign his image. He asked that if he was close aide of Dawood, how could he get protection. He also said that he is falsely implicated in the fake passport scam as well. “As I am associated with MCA’s marketing committee, I happen to see and meet Ashish Shelar and NCP president Sharad Pawar,” said Riyaz Bhati.
BJP’s spokesperson Madhav Bhandari meanwhile has targeted Sharad Pawar saying that he himself appointed Bhati on MCA and so he should be asked about the whereabouts of Bhati. NCP’s senior leader Nawab Malik had said that Riyaz Bhati is connected with BJP and why he was not prosecuted under MCOCA. This all started when Nawab Mailk said that Riyaz Bhati threatened Wilson College’s principal to help out Ashish Shelar to win in MCA elections. Following to which, Madhav Bhandari linked up Bhati directly to Sharad Pawar which created a stir in politics.
