The Special Investigation Team has arrested Arman Khatri (19) in connection with the suicide of Darshan Solanki, a student of IIT Mumbai. In the note written by Solanki before his death, Arman's name was mentioned and he was held responsible for the death. Arman was arrested by the police on Saturday night after the report of a handwriting expert revealed that the handwriting in the letter to the Special Investigation Team was Solanki's. He has been remanded in police custody till September 13.
Solanki and Armaan lived on the same floor in the hostel. Both were studying in the same class. A report by the Crime Investigation Department's handwriting analysis unit on Friday revealed that the note found in Solanki's room was written by him. Armaan was interrogated by the Special Investigation Team.
Sources informed that Armaan threatened Solanki with a knife out of anger over his religious comment. Solanki was scared. Preliminary investigations have revealed that he had also apologised to Khatri. Meanwhile, sources said that Armaan will search for the cutter that he used to threaten him and record the statements of some persons.
