On Wednesday night, a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed a minor girl seven to eight times in Kalyan East following which she died while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, said police.
According to the preliminary enquiry, the accused, identified as Aditya Kamble, was upset with the girl as she rejected his proposal twice, police officers said. Both belonged to the same locality, as per the Hindustan Time report. As per the official information, the accused was lurching around the girl’s house at Durga Darshan Society in Tisgaon for almost three to four hours before the 12-year-old returned from private tuition around 8 pm with her mother.

When she was climbing the stairs, Aditya came from behind, pushed the girl’s mother aside, and started stabbing the girl using a knife. Her mother used all her strength to stop Aditya but failed. Residents of the society rushed to the spot hearing the mother’s cries and were successful in handing over Aditya to the police. Though the victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
