On May 9, the Metropolitan Magistrate Court sent actor Karan Oberoi to judicial custody for 14 days on the basis of rape and extortion allegations after luring her through fake marriage promises. The victim had accused him of raping and blackmailing her in 2016.

Earlier, the victim and Oberoi were in a relationship in 2016. After which, the actor allegedly sexually assaulted her by promising marriage. The victim also accused that he had taken her obscene photos and videos and was blackmailing her. Eventually, the victim filed a complaint in 2018 against Oberoi. 

Meanwhile, after the court ordered 14-day custody for Oberoi, he broke into tears. On the other hand, the actor's sister and friends denied the allegations against.

Actor Pooja Bedi, along with Karan Oberoi’s sister, Gurbani, and his friends, Sachin Shroff, Danny Fernandes, Anveshi Jain, Chaitanya Bhosle, Varkey Patani, Sherrin Verghese, Sudhanshu Pandey and his lawyer Dinesh Tiwari were present during the hearing.
