20-year-old man arrested from Gujarat over death threat call to Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar

A team of investigating officer Sub-Inspector of Police Vilas Tupe officials tracked down the caller in Jamnagar and apprehended him with the help of their counterparts in that city. The man will be produced before Mumbai court later.

On January 6, the Mumbai Police nabbed the person, who had threatened to kill the Mumbai Mayor and Shiv Sena leader Kishori Pednekar. The accused, from Jamnagar, Gujarat has been taken into custody and a Mumbai Police squad will arrive along with the accused in Mumbai on January 8.

The 20-year-old identified as Manoj Dodhiya is a resident of Jamnagar. The man has been remanded to police custody till January 10. Dodhiya will be produced before Mumbai court later.

On December 21, an unknown person made a threat call around 6 pm. The person called to Pednekar from an unknown number and was speaking in Hindi and also used foul language while she was in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation office.

A case has been registered at Azad Maidan Police Station on the basis of the complaint. Recently, she had been targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party and Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 504, 506 (2), 507, 509 against the person in question. Meanwhile, a few months ago, Matoshri received a similar threatening phone call. The caller had threatened to blow up Matoshri. Later, the suspect was arrested by the anti-terrorism squad.
