The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has refuted claims that norms were violated while constructing buildings at Kole- Kalyan in Kalina. These buildings are being built for state officials and administrative officers. “We have not violated any norms or flouted any rules while constructing,” says MHADA vice president Sambhaji Zhende.

RTI activist Anil Galgali had alleged that MHADA was flouting BMC rules and Kole-Kalyan’s Maitri project would be on par with the Adarsh housing society scam that has rocked the city for the last few years. Only two floors were allowed for the Maitri project but MHADA turned it into a 12 storey building. Galgali further alleged that MHADA officials have sent the proposal to the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta for clearing the files regarding the Maitri project. Galgali now wants the chief minister and BMC commissioner to take action against MHADA and Maitri societies’ 84 members under MRTP Act.
